The Senior Subsea Engineer drives subsea well operations, ensuring engineering excellence and equipment readiness for drilling, completions, and interventions. Leading wellhead and Xmas Tree systems, you’ll manage installations, interfaces, and maintenance while upholding strict safety and compliance standards. This contract role demands technical expertise, operational leadership, and a commitment to peak performance in subsea well delivery.
· Conduct concept evaluations and contribute to basis of design for drill center expansions.
· Deliver technical evaluations, reports, and progress updates to support project decision-making.
· Review and approve design reports, drawings, and project timelines.
· Coordinate infield subsea scopes in preparation for MODU campaigns.
· Assess and report on technical condition of tooling, recommending repairs or replacements as needed.
· Oversee tear downs, inspections, and rebuilds of equipment at vendor facilities.
· Lead system integration testing (SIT) for all subsea tooling and equipment.
· Advise on equipment spares strategy to ensure operational readiness.
· Liaise with certifying authorities to ensure compliance.
· Support new contracting initiatives and vendor selection processes.
· Integrate lifecycle considerations (operations, intervention, abandonment) into well design.
· Identify and mitigate risks in planned and unplanned operations.
· Collaborate with manufacturers to develop procedures for equipment assembly and operation.
· Provide on-site supervision of critical activities when required.
· Maintain clear communication with DCI and subsea teams to ensure alignment.
· Manage change control processes to uphold safety and efficiency.
· Capture and implement lessons learned across programs for continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 10 years of relevant oil and gas experience, preferably in subsea equipment and engineering. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage third-party relationships, along with excellent communication, presentation, and reporting abilities to ensure clear and professional stakeholder engagement.
