We are seeking a qualified Process Safety Engineer for a temporary 6-month term with the possibility of extension or adjustment based on operational needs. This role is based in St. John’s and will work closely with the Process Engineering Team, reporting to the Process Engineering Team Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard identification studies (HAZID, HAZOP)
- Provide Process Safety support for Baseline PHA Revalidations
- Update and maintain Process Safety Processes
- Trend and analyze Process Safety Metrics
- Classify Process Safety Events
- Lead or participate in Incident Investigations
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering designation (or equivalent career experience)
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in the petrochemical/oil & gas industry, with preferred experience in fixed/floating production systems, topsides facilities, and offshore operations support
- Demonstrated knowledge of Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements
- Ability to facilitate Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs)
- Basic understanding of production system processes
- Knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Loss Prevention processes and best practices
- Familiarity with the Newfoundland Offshore Regulatory environment
Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
- Strong written communication skills with a focus on clarity and conciseness
- Effective work prioritization and time management
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Experience with SAP Computerized Maintenance Management System (preferred)
